Diabetes Self-Management Training (DSMT)

Hannibal Regional Diabetes Center offers a diabetes program that is recognized by the American Diabetes Association. Diabetes Self-Management Training (DSMT) teaches individuals with diabetes to cope with and manage their health. The program includes tips for eating healthy, being active, monitoring blood sugar, taking prescription drugs, and reducing risks of complications. Medical Nutrition Therapy & Nutrition Counseling

Nutrition is a critical component of the management of many chronic diseases and conditions. Hannibal Regional offers a variety of outpatient nutrition services for all ages (children to older adults).

Hannibal Regional's Diabetes Center can provide you with the education, support, and tools that you need to manage chronic conditions such as:

Wellness Programs

Weight Management Program

Hannibal Regional’s Weight Management Program is designed to help you reach your weight loss goals while giving you the tools to maintain a healthy lifestyle. We offer an 8-week weight loss program led by a registered dietitian.

During an eight week period, the Weight Management Program will help you develop and implement a plan to fit your weight loss needs and goals. Your initial session will be one-on-one with a registered dietitian and the remaining seven sessions will be in a group environment. The program is ongoing and individuals can get started at any time.

Diabetes Prevention Course

Diabetes Prevention Course is a 7-month lifestyle change program focusing on reducing the risk of developing diabetes and is recommended for anyone with prediabetes or who are interested in living a healthier lifestyle. The group sessions are facilitated by a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), with biweekly meetings for the seven months of the program. This program includes 14 sessions with a certified diabetes educator, expert guest speakers throughout the program and the tools, materials, and resources needed to prevent or delay a type 2 diabetes diagnosis. The Diabetes Prevention Course offers accountability and support to reach your individual health goals.


Free Support Groups

Diabetes Support Group: Scheduled the first Wednesday of each month at 3:30 p.m. in HRMG’s First Floor Conference Room (by the Caring Cup)

Weight Loss Support Group: Meets every Thursday from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Hannibal Regional Hospital’s Sun Room (by the hospital front entrance).
