Hannibal Regional Campus

The Hannibal Regional Healthcare System (HRHS) story began when community benefactors and leaders formed Hannibal’s first hospitals - Levering Hospital in 1903 and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in 1914. The merger of these two organizations in the late 1980s led to another major milestone in the evolution of strong community-based healthcare.

In 1993 the new Hannibal Regional Hospital opened its doors on a pastoral 105-acre setting which is now a thriving healthcare campus. The beautifully appointed medical campus currently includes Hannibal Regional Hospital, Hannibal Regional Medical Group, Hannibal Regional Foundation, and the James E. Cary Cancer Center.

Hannibal Regional is a fiscally strong, integrated healthcare delivery system organized to lead, support and encourage the advancement of physical, social, intellectual, spiritual, and emotional health of residents in northeast Missouri, west-central Illinois and southeast Iowa. Our mission statement, “Your Health is Our Mission,” encompasses Hannibal Regional’s leadership role in enhancing the multiple dimensions of health and quality of life for the individuals and communities we serve. To achieve this mission and fulfill our brand promise of “Guiding You to BETTER”, HRHS now serves patients and families in more than 10 locations.

Hannibal Regional Hospital is a 99-bed acute care hospital providing comprehensive health and wellness services to the residents of the tristate area. Hannibal Regional’s commitment to our mission of health is our leadership as Missouri’s first Baby Friendly designated hospital, an accolade bestowed by the World Health Organization. Because of our success in achieving this high standard members of our Chris Coons Women’s Health Center travel nationally to teach and foster successful maternal-child health practices in other hospitals.

The Hannibal Regional Healthcare System team is nearly 1,200 strong and is mission-driven, values-based and committed to preserving the vision and legacy our founders. Our dedicated and talented team takes pride in continuing to create and strengthen access to community-based healthcare resources which guide our patients and the communities of our region to better.
